Europa Radicale, the Georgian Community of Milan, and Ponte Atlantico are organizing a rally titled “Georgia is not Russia” on Saturday, December 14, at 3:00 PM in Piazza San Babila, Milan. The demonstration will support the Georgian people and defend European democracy.
The rally comes as repression in Georgia intensifies following the announcement by the Georgian Dream government to suspend EU integration until 2028. This decision is deemed unconstitutional by Europa Radicale, as Georgia’s Constitution defines EU membership as a strategic goal.
On December 4, opposition leader Nika Gvaramia, head of the liberal party “Ahali,” was arrested after a brutal attack by masked police. Europa Radicale representatives had met him during the controversial October elections, which were marred by fraud. President Salomé Zourabichvili’s appeal for a rerun was rejected, and the ruling pro-Russian party continues to dominate Georgian institutions. What happens in Georgia, like in Ukraine, is critical for Europe. If Putin wins in Georgia and Ukraine, the EU is next.
The demonstration is a call to resist the growing influence of Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
All political and social forces are invited to join the rally in Milan on December 14.
